Around half of Rosa Praed's novels have Australian settings. Policy and Passion is generally viewed as her best work and draws on her experiences on the land in the Burnett River district in Queensland where she was brought up.
Rosa Praed (1851-1935) was born and lived in rural Queensland. In 1875 she moved with her husband to England where she became known as a popular novelist and dramatist.Despite visiting Australia in 1894-5 she continued to live in England.
Rosa Caroline Praed (1851–1935), often known as Mrs Campbell Praed, was an Australian novelist who wrote in many different genres for both adults and children.
