Open Access
Open Access (OA) refers to the free distribution of online versions of books and other publications. All books published by Õ¬Äе¼º½ which are made openly available have undergone standard quality assessment and peer review.
Õ¬Äе¼º½ supports the principles of OA, and aims to comply with organisational and funding requirements for scholarly publications. We are happy to negotiate with authors and editors to decide the best distribution approach for your book.
As a not-for-profit publisher, we use a hybrid approach to OA – we reserve the right to negotiate a subvention to support titles planned for immediate OA release. Books with commercial potential that are not subject to funder OA requirements are published without OA, with royalties payable.
SUP OA books are available from the , and as downloadable PDF files from the Õ¬Äе¼º½ eScholarship Repository.
SUP Law books are available from AUSTLII:
Before you upload a version of your OA chapter in your local repository, please check the Õ¬Äе¼º½ eScholarship Repository – your chapter may already be available from there. If we have loaded the published edition, we prefer that you link to this version, rather than upload a duplicate elsewhere. This allows us to consolidate statistics of use, and ensure that the best possible version of your work is the one people find. If your chapter is not yet in our repository, contact us.
For books in press, please contact your editor to check the conditions of publication. With most SUP books, OA release will be in line with the University of Õ¬Äе¼º½ OA policy. For further information, please contact Susan Murray, Manager, Scholarly Publishing and Õ¬Äе¼º½.
